If you are into DIY then you know your power tool collection must have a jigsaw. Jigsaws were also known as Saber saw. Every DIYer needs this power tool in their collections. Its simple, easy to use and is quite affordable comparing to other power saws. It’s the second most useful power tool after a drill.

We will be reviewing a cordless Jig Saw Comparison: DeWalt vs. Porter Cable vs. Bosch vs. Makita vs. Ryobi. These are among the most popular Jigsaws in the market.

1. DeWalt DCS331B

A DeWalt Jigs saw is a top-notch power tool. The Shoe Bevel has intents at 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees for versatile bevel cutting. This particular model has a rubber over mold. The T-shank blades that come with this model are just as any T shank blade, very convenient installation and removal process. This doesn’t require any extra tools and saves you the hassle.

This model can cut from 0- 3000 strokes per minute. So, this is pretty powerful in full mode. This can cut through ceramic, metal, wood etc. but like any jig saw it can’t cut through materials thicker than the length of its blades.

The Jig Saw is cordless, portable and you do not have to plug it in to use. The Drawbacks are the batteries will not last for long sessions if used in full power mode. But should give you at least three hours otherwise. Buying the batteries and charger separately is annoying.

This is a portable Jigsaw and like all Jigsaws, it’s not for cutting big logs. It’s mainly used for fine-tuning and cutting patterns holes handle etc.

2. Porter-Cable PCC650B

Porter cable jigsaw PCC650B comes with a rubber handle, easily detachable batteries, also comes with T shank type of blades and has a blower that blows debris way for better visibility while cutting. It can cut from 0-2500 SPM. The variable speed trigger can help cut rough and smooth edges depending on what speed you require and set it to.

The porter cable jigsaw can also do tilted bevel cuts. And has T shank blades from easy removal and attachment without any extra tool requirements.

This jigsaw very similar to the DeWalt jigsaw. The difference between the two is the Strokes per second. The porter tool can give you 0 to 2500 SPM while the DeWalt can give you 0 to 3000 stroke per minute.

The porter cable jigsaw pretty powerful although it cannot match the DeWalt one. The DeWalt jigsaw has better SPM giving it more power the porter cable jigsaw, however, compensates for its power by its price.

The porter cable jigsaw is way more affordable. Depending on the usage the porter cable jigsaw could be a better match for you. Especially if you are running on a tight budget and your usage is on the lighter side.

3. Bosch JSH180B

The Bosch jigsaw JSH180B is lighter even compared to other jigsaws. It uses a T shank blade and a change system that removes the need for a user to touch the hot blade. This jigsaw can do bevel cuts from 0 to 45 degrees.

The dust blower and LED light features in this jigsaw give clarity while cutting. It also has an Electronic Motor Protection (EMP). This helps prevent overheating and ensures a long lifetime. The tool has a small in diameter handle which alleviates fatigue during extended application or usage.

The Tool has a splinter guard for clear results and an automatic brake so you can change speeds without having to wait for to blade to stop. The variable speed is a nice touch. It saves time and is convenient for when you are in a hurry.

The Bosh jigsaw has a 0 to 2700 SPM. So is comparable to other popular jigsaws. It has a detachable battery which has to bought separately.

The battery is an 18 V Lithium-ion battery. The battery system has another special feature. It is designed to cool off the battery with a special heat conductive housing and ribbing, this helps the battery life to last longer.

4. Makita XVJ03Z

The Makita XVJ03Z jigsaw is similar to the Bosch one it is also an 18-volt lithium-ion battery version. They have similar features and but the Makita more expensive. This tool is also a cordless battery powered tool. It is portable and light.

The tool has 4 different setting namely 0, 15 30 and 45 degrees for making bevel cuts. It has a led and dust blower for better visibility while using this powerful tool. This tool has an electronic motor protection function and also electronic cell protection for longevity for the tool’s life.

The Makita jigsaw is handy and light. It can be used for making tight and curved cuts as well as angled cuts. The led feature and dust blower feature help with clarity. It can make angles bevel cuts as well. The brand is premium too.

This jigsaw has 0 to 2600 strokes per minute. The batteries and charger have to be bought separately or in a kit so that is inconvenient.

Battery wise it doesn’t fare well against other jigsaws of the 20 V family. The Makita XVJ03Z is expensive compared to the Bosch cordless jigsaw and its 18-volt battery is easily drained while doing intensive full powered cuts.

5. Ryobi P523

The Ryobi P523 is a powerful tool that is affordable compared to other brands of a jigsaw. It uses T shank blades which means no hassle blade change. It also has a little Allen wrench or key that helps adjust the tilt of the bevel shoe for different bevel cuts.

The power tool can also be fitted with a bosh t shank blade which is a pretty useful detail that DIYers love. This power tool is liked and used by both site or heavy workers to a hobbyist. The functions are simple and efficient and it’s quite affordable.

The Ryobi P523 has a smart design that makes it compatible with both lithium ion and NiCad batteries and can be changed according to convenience. The versatility is a major plus especially if you own another model of Ryobi cordless power tool.

This power tool uses only T shank blades and cannot accommodate U shank ones. But this is more of a good thing than a con. T shank blades are much more convenient. The Ryobi P523 is compatible with most batteries but like any cordless power tool, it uses a lot of power and so its best to keep more than one battery for long intense sessions.

Conclusion

Dewalt vs. Bosch vs. Makita vs. Ryobi vs. Porter Cable, which is the best cordless jigsaw? If you are on a tight budget then go for the more budget-friendly tools like the Ryobi.

If you want to invest or need the tool for heavy work then get the DeWalt jigsaw. The DeWalt Jigsaw will not let you down and honestly for the quality, the price is quite good.

The Bosch Jigsaw is perfect for the hobbyist looking for a good jigsaw that will not disappoint plus Bosch blades are considered to be the best blades around.
